Tailored Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training and support for police forces, including workforce culture, race equality, community engagement, leadership and fair decision-making.
We provide practical Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training and support for police forces, including officers, PCSOs, police staff, supervisors, leadership teams, people teams, professional standards and learning and development functions.
Equality and inclusion can affect workforce culture, decision-making, accessibility, leadership and the experience of the people your organisation serves.
Support respectful working relationships across ranks, roles and functions and responses to discrimination or inappropriate behaviour.
Explore communication, assumptions, accessibility and community context without treating communities as homogeneous.
Build awareness of bias and the importance of evidence, reflection and accountability in decisions affecting colleagues or the public.
Connect inclusive leadership with culture, speaking up, supervision and organisational accountability.
Police officers across ranks, PCSOs, control room and custody staff, other police staff, supervisors and team leaders, new recruits and training cohorts, professional standards teams, people and organisational development functions and senior leaders.
You may already know the training topic you need, or you may be exploring a wider EDI issue. We can help identify an appropriate starting point and tailor support to the roles, responsibilities and context involved.
Support can range from a single training session to a programme for different staff groups, or wider work reviewing EDI priorities, policies and organisational practice.
There is no single EDI course that every organisation in this sector needs. We can help you choose training based on your people, existing knowledge, priorities and the situations they encounter in practice.
A practical foundation covering equality, discrimination, protected characteristics, bias and inclusive practice.
Explore racism, racial inequality, bias and practical anti-racist action.
Build confidence to discuss sensitive EDI issues constructively.
Explore disability inclusion, barriers, reasonable adjustments and accessibility.
Connect inclusive leadership with culture, decision-making and accountability.
Explore fair recruitment, selection, accessibility and bias in decision-making.
We can develop programmes that bring together different EDI topics for different audiences, connecting learning with leadership, service delivery, workforce practice and wider organisational priorities. Content can be adapted to your setting and delivered face-to-face or online via Zoom or Teams.
Police-relevant scenarios can create structured opportunities to examine workplace behaviour, decision-making, communication, bias, race equality, disability inclusion and the experiences of different colleagues and communities while recognising the role of force policies and professional standards processes.
Support can extend beyond training. We can help review current practice, strengthen your EDI approach and identify practical priorities for further development.
Explore policies, practice, culture and available evidence to identify strengths, potential barriers and areas for development.
Consider how equality and inclusion are reflected in relevant policies and everyday practice.
Develop practical priorities and actions aligned with your organisation and wider responsibilities.
Use follow-up training, review and support to build on progress and respond to emerging priorities.
The Equality Act 2010 provides an important framework for equality and discrimination in employment and service delivery. Police forces may also have public sector equality responsibilities alongside professional standards, operational policies and wider policing requirements. EDI training and review do not replace operational guidance, legal advice or professional standards processes.
Good EDI practice is broader than legal compliance. It also involves culture, accessibility, representation, belonging, communication and whether people can access services, participate and progress without unnecessary barriers.
Where formal legal advice is required about a specific situation or obligation, appropriate specialist legal advice should be obtained.
Whether you need a single training course, a programme for different teams or wider support with your EDI approach, tell us what you are trying to achieve and we can discuss an appropriate way forward.
